I suppose you're all dying to know what I was doing this week while I should have been drawing comics.

The answer is that I was drawing comics, but not the right comics. I swear you will get a comic next week. I've already got one pencilled, it's just not inked.

So... *sigh* Yep, you get Other Project Filler again. I've collected here more bits of what I'm going to torment my poor readers with after I'm finished with get_medieval (also referenced here and here:

Princess Emoglin'Gneth - there's a rather long story about her, involving an ancient civilization and a cursed sword. But really, all you need to know about her is summed up by her hairstyle.

When the Dark Lordess Tyfnee married the Necromancer of Awesome, she decided she wanted Sue and Emmy to be her bridesmaids. Fortunately, this was one time her Lordessship didn't have to be ashamed of her upbringing, since Bridesmaids' dresses are inherently evil anyway.

My boyfriend says he's amazed by my ability to draw scuzzy beards that look like they're right in the 'itchy' stage.

A height reference. I've been way lax about relative heights in both get_medieval and extd_grb_injoke. I'll be trying to do better next time.

Sue and her sister, Bluebelle.

Emmy was once a priestess of her civilization's patron god. That didn't work out very well for either party - the civilization collapsed, and the god now spends most of his time getting drunk.

Three versions of Laurien. He does wear a ponytail for about a storyline and a half, as depicted in the far right head shot, but cuts it off after learning that 'Split Ends' aren't just a horror story Elvish mothers tell to terrify their children.

The Dark Lordess Tyfnee tries a new look. She does that a lot, but never quite manages to pull off the 'Princess of Destruction' thing she's going for. This one came out somewhere between 'showgirl from hell' and 'Cher at the Oscars'.

Elf warrior! You can never have too many of those. My roomies say I draw the elfiest elves they've ever seen. I hope so, since that's the point.

Elvish king and queen. Don't worry, they think we all look alike, too.

An addendum to Other Project Filler...

As Mad Scientist types go, The Necromancer of Awesome is at the fairly benign end of the scale. He's not out for World Conquest or Revenge On Those Fools At The Academy. He just wants to make zombie pirates, zombie ninjas, and zombie dinosaur cyborgs. Because he can.

The Dark Lord Zogmoth thought he was being very Evil indeed when he kidnapped Princess Brytni-Krysteena and forced her to marry him. He started to think it might've been a mistake when she insisted on the pastel pansy wallpaper for the Fortress. But he didn't do anything about it, and by the time he found himself protesting that his Fire-Breathing Skeletal Steed was not meant for chauferring small children to ballet lessons, it was too late. So when he was defeated by a Hero, he ended up leaving his Evil Empire to his daughter Tyfnee.

Well, yeah, no comic today. The... uh... time I thought I'd have to draw last night, I actually ended up being shanghaied by a Christmas party. There were a lot of large men in chain mail there playing 'toss the hobbit'. There were also cupcakes. And mead. Lots of mead.

So here, have this instead:

These are some doodles I've done for the comic I'm going to be drawing after get_medieval, which will be ending sometime around January or February 2008. Yes, I do plan that far in advance. The comic (which I'm not sure would really interest you guys... I think it's geared towards a rather different class of Geek. But here we go anyway) is called Dumnestor's Heroes and consists of a lot of stuff gleaned from watching my friends play Dungeons and Dragons.

Main characters are:

BlackEye Susan (her real name is Daisy, but you didn't hear that from me), who's practically a party in and of herself. She technically ranks as a theif, but is good at using just about anything she's got to hand as a weapon.

Laurien Merutheldior, who used to be an Elvish prince and is now just a tall skinny guy with a bad haircut. How this came about is not so much a long story as it is an embarrassing one.

Koln Wroughtgold, Dwarvish accountant.

Other characters include Sue's family, who are the happiest, nicest, blondest people you could ever imagine existing anywhere; Prince Pollux, who gives the Elves a run for their money at general nanciness; an assortment of magicians who try to join the party only to die at the first monster; gods who can't seem to do anything right; the Gamers, who only appear on Sundays; and the Necromancer of Awesome, who creates zombie pirates just because he can.

Er... hi, guys.

I hate to do this, but between finals and the pre-christmas madness at work, I don't think I'm going to get the comic done this week. This sort of thing wouldn't happen if I had a buffer, but somehow I don't seem to be able to keep one up for P&P. I'm going to try to have something, but no guarentees.
